Tatiana Baskakova is a Russian-born British artist whose multidisciplinary practice—spanning ceramics, print, painting, and performance—explores identity, embodiment, and political resistance. Based in London, she earned a BA in Art Practice (2010) and an MA in Art and Politics (2012) from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and co-founded the Ceramics Studio Co-op (2014).
Central to Tatiana’s work is a deep engagement with the act of making, where she navigates the delicate balance between control and spontaneity in the creative process. Her interest lies in how artistic media can embody resistance, challenge norms, and construct narrative, all while focusing on the dynamic relationship between artist, audience, and the political significance of presence. Her current practice is anchored in ceramics and lithographic prints on clay, shaped by the rhythms of creation and the language of everyday life.
Before turning her attention to ceramics, Tatiana exhibited internationally and was active in art activist collectives, investigating the intersection of aesthetics and resistance. Her work has been featured in the Moscow Biennale of Young Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and in site-specific performances in both institutional and grassroots contexts.
